Chicco Fit2 offers safety, comfort and versatility. Straightforward installation using LATCH, an anti-rebound bar and thick padding for the safety of your baby. Chicco is a great brand and I always recommend this to family and friends if they are looking for a car seat or stroller. But be warned that Chicco car seats are not lightweight. So if you are looking for something you can use for travelling and can carry around while travelling, this car seat is not for you.
How We Picked and Tested Chicco Fit2
We tested Chicco Fit2 by installing it to a standard-sized sedan. As first time parents, we tried using the LATCH, and it was a breeze as expected with Chicco car seats. However, as we predicted, using the car seat belt for installation was a bit confusing and overwhelming. We also evaluated how compatible Fit2 is with Chicco strollers and other brands, which was a bus, since Fit 2 is relatively new, it didn’t fit to any of our strollers, although we think an adapter can be used, this car seat is still far compared to other brands.
LATCH
Chicco Fit2 is probably one of the easiest car seat to install because of LATCH. We love car seats that don’t make you confuse and is not difficult to install since incorrect installation can lead to accidents.
Belt
You can also use Fit2 using your vehicle’s seat belt, though keep in mind that using the seat belt is not as easy as using the LATCH. Still, it has a color-coded belt path which will reduce the chance of a parent installing the car seat incorrectly.
Given a choice, we would always prefer to install Fit2 using the LATCH.
Without the Base
Using Fit2 without the base will not break you into sweat. It uses the European belt path for installation which is easier and preferred by a lot of parents over US method.
Harness
Fit2’s harness is best above average. It’s not stiff, and you can operate it with one hand. The strap glides and pulls smoothly and won’t require extra effort in operating.
Weight
This car seat is not lightweight in any sense. Overall it weighs 10 lbs and if you are looking for a car seat that you can use with public transportation, taxis or ride-sharing, you might want to look for other option.
It’s also not ideal for travelling and maneuvering through crowded places without a stroller. Weight might not be important to others but for some parents like us, this is a dealbreaker.
Compatibility of Chicco Fit2 with strollers
Chicco Fit2 is compatible with multiple Chicco strollers, however since Fit2 is relatively a new model, you might find it hard to find any other compatible stroller from other brands without purchasing a separate adapter. To be sure, give their customer service a call for compatible stroller brands or fit the car seat with the stroller before buying.
Chicco Fit2 Infant & Toddler Car Seat
Chicco Fit3 is always recommended to families who want safety, comfort and convenience. It makes our little one extra comfortable during car rides, and we’ve read several reviews stating that Chicco Fit2 saved their child during an accident supporting our claim that it is indeed safe. However, there are still little things that hold a big part of parent’s decision just like how heavy this car seat is and the price.
