Installation
Donna Infant Car Seat and Stroller is one of the first one’s in the market that can be converted to a stroller. One advantage of this car seat is that although it comes with a base, you can also use it without one. With the base, you can use the LATCH system, and without the base, you can use the vehicle seat belt. You can only install this car seat in a rear-facing position which is standard for infant car seats.
One thing to note is that this is a car seat that weighs 16.5 lbs, which is understandable since you can directly convert it to a stroller with frame and wheels, and for a mom like me, installing and removing this car seat in our car was straining, specially if you have your child loaded into it.
Transition from car seat to stroller
Doona Infant Car Seat can be used between three modes: car seat, pull-along stroller and the on-the-go stroller.
Transitioning and changing between the modes can be complicated at first, but with a bit of practice, it will come relatively easy. You can easily change into different modes by pushing the rotation buttons and rotating the handle bar into different position. There is a red safety lock button for the wheels to be released from the car seat.
Testing the stroller in our area, we found that the pull-along mode was convenient, specially in tight and crowded places.
Versatility
This Doona Infant Car seat can be used by babies up to 32 inches and 35 lbs maximum. So if you are thinking of getting a car seat which you can use much longer, this may not be the car seat for you.
Keep in mind that your child’s position while using the stroller is only lying down. While some might find this okay, our baby didn’t. He was fuzzy and irritable since he wants to look and see around.
Design
This car seat to stroller is sleek and comes with 7 stylish design and color. It’s compact enough to be carried around and to be packed on your car and even an airplane.
The frame is made of sturdy aluminum, seats are made of bamboo fiber which is antibacterial, hypoallergenic and can regulate heat and humidity. The seat fabric is also machine washable, which is great for maintenance and care.
The car seat to stroller has a canopy that can be extended, water-repellant, which is also washable. The Doona car seat also comes with a head support specifically for extra protection for newborns.
Safety
Doona Infant Car Seat has passed all crash test and required test for US and Europe standard. It’s also approved for traveling via airplane (but be sure to call your airline first to confirm if a car seat is needed or allowed).
It has a five-point system and is equipped with a fail-safe mechanism for unintentional folding. Furthermore, it has an anti-rebound protection that keeps your baby extra safe during any accidental collision.
